LGBTQ Service Day at Heron's Head Park
Co-sponsored by the Castro Network, COLAGE, Literacy for Environmental Justice, Our Family Coalition, SF LGBT Community Center
’Spring’ into action and help beautify Heron’s Head Park! Formerly known as Pier 98, Heron’s Head Park is a 23-acre restored wetland. This is a great opportunity for LGBTQ families, individuals, youth, friends, and allies to show that we are an integral part of the community, learn about environmental stewardship, give back through volunteerism, get our hands dirty, and enjoy some fresh air. Volunteers will receive a history and introduction of the park, and activities for the day may include plant seedlings, remove invasives, and building up wildlife habitat. Wear appropriate clothing (dress in layers!). Gloves, boots, and tools are provided. Lunch will be provided afterward—a great opportunity to socialize.
Registration required. If you taking public transit in San Francisco: Take Muni #19 or #44 and get off at Middlepoint St./Evans St. or Muni T and get off at Evans. Once on Jennings and Evans, walk downhill towards Cargo Way. You will arrive at Heron’s Head Park on your right.
