Our Family Coalition

Celebrations and Festivals

Our Family Coalition hosts a number of opportunities for LGBTQ families like ours to build community through social activities, celebrations and festivals. These events facilitate the development of social support networks for LGBTQ parents and their children and allow the children to see their families reflected in others around them. Some chances for families to connect include:

  • Family-friendly spaces at Pride events
  • Holiday and other parties
  • LGBTQ Family Night at the Berkeley YMCA
  • Outdoor family activities
  • Family Campout and Youth Campout
  • Activities for youth of LGBTQ families

No one is turned away for lack of funds. We want YOUR family to join Our Family for these exciting events filled with festivities and fun!

Educational Workshops

We provide support and resources on both LGBTQ-specific and general parenting topics in an LGBTQ-friendly environment. Come learn about legal rights and protections, positive parenting practices, family building, coming out to your children, talking with children about their origins, child development, and more. Find upcoming workshops in our events section. For more information and resources, visit our get informed section.

Peer Support Groups and Playgroups

Peer groups provide a variety of opportunities both for LGBTQ parents and caregivers and future parents to meet, explore shared concerns, and support their peers. Our playgroups offer developmentally-enriching and fun opportunities for parents and children to interact. Our regularly-scheduled groups include:

Queer Family Night San Francisco Age Groups (0-5 and 6-12)

Our Youth

Our young people are growing up in a world of increasing acceptance of LGBTQ people. At the same time recognize that their families are “different” from most of their peers’. Our vibrant new  youth program provides support and leadership-building opportunities for  youth living in LGBTQ-headed families. Our activities for 4th through 7th graders cultivate an environment for community and fun while creating a safe space for our you to build community and confidence to speak out about their families.

See calendar for dates, times, and locations.
